Match Report: A batsmen’s paradise involving nearly 450 runs but only 7 wickets was the outcome of this fantastic afternoon of cricket. Vale lost the toss and were inserted by the home team. The opening pair raced out of the blocks put were tailed back slightly by the sometimes wayward Wanderers bowling and were 78/2 at drinks. Wickets were proving hard to come by and some generous fielding from the home team saw Vale post a very good 222/5 from their 40 overs. After tea Wanderers started slowly and had mustered only 25 runs from the first 10 overs before opener Matt Everett was back in the pavilion after a fine caught and bowled. This paired skipper Fowles with the ever youthful Bentley in the middle as they continued their fine form this season with the bat. 66/1 in the 16th over had become 166/1 by the 24th and Wanderers were beginning to look out of sight with both Bentley and Fowles finding the boundary at ease. Fowles reached his 3rd century in 4 games before going for one big hit too many, while victory was reached in the 35th over with Bentley carrying his bat for a superb 87no.
